Traveling Gensan was one of my dream! I booked my flight early this year 2010, it was May 2010, via Cebu Pacific.November 20, 2010 departure Manila to Gensan 7:10 am, arrival 9:00am. Going back to Manila on the next day November 21, 2010, Gensan to Manila departure 9:30am, arrival at NAIA 11:20am.
While in Gensan already hire a taxi for a flat rate (PHP300-350). If you don't have much luggage, a habal habal motorbike for PHP100-250 will suffice. In the city, tricycle will be your means where you want to go.
I would recommend SYDNEY HOTEL is a right choice of hotel accomodation in Gensan. It offers a great view of the new Plaza Heneral Santos and Mt. Matutum. It's just 20 minutes away from the airport and also 5 to 10 minutes to shopping centers.(Gaisano Mall, KCC and Robinson-I was not able to go to Robinson, it was raining anymore and my things was heavy) soon to open SM GENSAN..)
You can arrange at Sydney Hotel whether you want to pick you up at the airport. They've pick up from Monday to Saturday. This hotel has very accomodating staff and you'll feel like you're at home. Everyone of them are very polite! I wish I could go back Gensan and stay Sydney again(^_^)
During my one day stay in Gensan, I enjoyed it very much. I arrived at the Sydney Hotel 10:28am, then around 11AM I started walking around the city proper until 3pm in the afternoon. Sad to say, it was raining from 3pm to 6pm, so I just stayed at the rooftop grill of Sydney.
But that travel was memorable for me.!
