We ended up staying in Otavalo for three days, which was two days longer than we had planned. Was it because it was idyllically situated in a valley surrounded by mountains? Was it the cool mountain air, which was perfect in the hot sunny climate? Was it the friendly, local indigenous people, who filled the streets as they set up their market stalls, selling an array of hand made/knitted/carved/painted products? Nope, unfortunately it was none of these attractions, it
was because I was ill! I'm blaming some pizza that we ate the first night that we arrived into Otavalo but whatever it was, it made me ill for three days and by the second day Kory was joining me! Kory made it to the market and took lots of the photos of the colourful photos and goods that they had for sale. I made it to the food market, where farmers wives came to sell their vegetables and fruits, which was about all that we fancied to eat, and we were grateful that it was easy to acquire, which it isn't always in Asia. Other than that, we just concentrated on getting better and were looking forward to moving on from the town, which was a shame as it was a really pleasant, small and friendly place. I have tried to compensate for having nothing to write, by including lots of photos of the lovely town in the mountains. You'll notice that all of the locals are about five foot, and make me feel tall, which is highly unusual.  Most of the indigenous men had long black hair that they held back in a ponytail, and the women wore long dresses, which you can see in the photos.

3days is a LONG time to be sick! Hope you are both better and will be able to eat pizza again!

Sorry to hear you've been unwell. Hope the energy levels have returned & you've got your stamina back to tackle those bike rides. Loving the look of Ecuador.
