Where I stayed
Big White for the day.
Brandon had to work today, but he was up by 5ish, so we got up at about 6 to see him off and to have a coffee. Brandon had a little faux pas on Saturday at the hill when he skiied with Phillip & Cory. Towards the end of their ski day Brandon did a jump & he thinks his chin & knees did a huge crunch against each other. He layed on the hill for a while then got up & skiied down the hill with Cory, not feeling completely normal. When he got to the bottom he stayed there while Cory & Phillip did one more run. By that time, Brandon was feeling quite ill. Phillip drove home having to stop a couple of times for Brandon to fertilize the side of the road. By the time they got home, Brandon knew he had a concussion. He had a short shower then had Phillip take him to the hospital. They did a scan and confirmed his suspicion and they kept him overnight. You might have noticed the little scratch over his nose. Anyhow, he shook it off and was at the airport at noon with the boys to guide us back to their house. Brandon is supposed to maintain a rather reserved life style for about 6 weeks, due to the concussion.
We made it to the ticket counter in good time and once Patrick was denied the free WestJet/Big White ticket (only to be used on the day you arrive - but ya gotta ask!), we paid for our tickets and headed to the chair lift.
Our first run of the day, first run of the trip. Phillip informed us that this was one of the nicest days of the season. We had beautiful sunshine. A1 conditions. We only took a 15 minute lunch break at the bottom of the hill. We had packed egg salad sandwiches, pickles & beer. Headed home about 2:30, it takes almost an hour. Stopped for some groceries & more libation. We also went to Costco to get a deal on lift tickets, so we'd be ready for skiing tomorrow. Patrick had borrowed a season's pass from a friend of Cory's and Charles used Brandon's season's pass. Towards the end of the day, Charles was questioned by the liftee. Aparently he thought Charles didn't look like Brandon, as his picture is right on the pass. When the liftee went up to the little hut to get one of his buddies to challenge Charles/Brandon, Charles & Patrick scooted out of line & headed to the day lodge. Phillip, John & I did a couple of runs to get us back to the West Ridge, where the car was parked, then we drove up to the day lodge & picked up Charles & Patrick. It was a close call, but we made it out alive. We thought it would be best if we didn't use other people's passes.
Anyhow, dinner tonight was the leftover steak, which we had slivered, and fried onions & peppers. We stuffed them into wraps and paired them up with salad.
