Where I stayed
Orange Treehouses
Bailed out of Fethiye early and have arrived in Olympos which sticks out of the south coast of
Turkey near um, I can't remember where. Anyway check a map.
Michael and Kylie and I are still together and we stayed at the Orange treehouses which was pretty
busy but still laid back. Run by some Dutch Basil Fawlty alike. No drugs involved, oh no. I got
a wee log cabin to myself in the middle of orange groves which was good as we could help ourselves to
all the oranges we could eat (not many.)
Stayed here for 3 days. Days spent on the beach which looked out over the Agean (i think) and watching
small pleasure boats with German tourists ferry landing parties to view the ruins of the ancient town
of Olympos (once visited by Hadrian of Wall fame). Did some snorkel diving but only a few fishes.
Evenings spent by the fire talking with all the other people staying. It got bloody cold in the log
cabins at night and I had my thermals on one night. No ladies.
On the 16th we took an evening visit to the legendary Chimeara Flames about 20 mins drive and 30 minute hike
away. Most impressed by these natural phenomenae. About 7 holes in the rock up this hill which were
spewing natural gas and had caught light. The largest flames coming out the ground were about 20 inches which was pretty
good. Couldn't help but think it was a tourist-attracting ruse and there were we slave childern under the
ground working Mechanical Dragons or something.
Next morning while eating breakfast (all in the price of 4 million as was dinner! beezer)i felt the
table tremble very slightly and that "coo!". Later that evening we were told on The News that
there had been an earthquake in NE Turkey that morning. COINCIDENCE?!
