Feb. 28.  Landed in Sydney today.  It's raining.  Arrived at our hotel around 2:00 PM and went for a walk around the area.  The area is caled darling Harbour and is quite nice and quite new. It's near the waterfront and is  central to downtown.  For tomorrow, we arranged an all day tour of Sydney including a luncheon cruise throughout the harbour.
Feb. 29 - It turned out nice for the city tour. We were shown old buildings downtown, the famous harbour bridge, opera house and had coffee and walked along Manly Beach on the north side of Sydney. In the afternoon we toured mainly the south side of historic sites and affluent harbourside neighborhoods and included a walk along Bondi Beach.  The lunch tour featured close up views of the opera house and  bridge with a fine buffet dinner of seafood and assorted of meat dishes.
Sydney (pop. about 4.3 million) is a very nice city. It's coastline is very convoluted so it has miles of waterfront.  There are many, many little bays full of sailboats and fancy houses.  If you went by the tours we took, mostly rich people must live in Sydney.  Luckily the weather was good for our tour although it's cooled down a bit.  The locals say fall starts tomorrow (March 1) so they start dressing for it now. Tomorrow we have a free day until about 3:30 when we have to head for the airport for our flight to Auckland.
March 1 was nice and sunny.   We strolled around Darling Harbour which is an area all duded up for tourists and families. It includes the convention centre, exibition halls, IMAX theatre, museums, a monorail, kiddies parks, fountains, etc. Very, very nice.
