Where I stayed
Ireland Day 6
Today started out with us finding our way out of Belfast in the morning. Driving pass the murals reminded me of the black cab tour we had yesterday.
Our first stop was at Glenariff National Park. Here we took the waterfalls walk. This took us deep into the tundra along a series of challenging pathways along the river. The water was flowing rapidly along the stream which was a beautiful sight after not seeing rapids since i was a boy back at home in Victoria. There were two waterfalls along this walk which joined at a fork into one river. Both were very powerful and impressive.
From there we continued north until we reached the rope bridge at carrick-a-reide. After parking in the wrong car park and walking half way down the hill before realising that we had parked in the wrong car park. So a quick run back up the hill to fetch the car and drive to the right car park had me buggered. (It was a bloody steep hill, stop laughing!) Anyway, we finally made it and we payed our fee and went to the rope bridge. Well, look at this thing, it was about 25 meters long and as rough as you can imagine. I think quite a few people have probably met their maker down there. Anyway, were all back on this side now all safe and sound. A small thrill for the day.
Next on our journey was the Giants Causeway. This consisted of about 6 different naturally formed attractions in an area of about 2kms. These included a giants boot, an organ, a wishing seat, chimneys, an old lady and something else i forgot the name of. We spent a good couple of hours mucking around these rock formations. They were basically formed by volcanic action millions of years ago along the coast to form these hexagon pilon type structures. Hopefully i can sort out some photos to try and get on here soon. The internet is a bit hexy at the moment, sorry.
Anyway, after that we headed back to our hostel for the night. Wow, what a hostel, beautiful views all round of the coast, and sitting here at 10pm, yes thats Ten o'clock at night! Watching the sun set over the western sky. Nice and peaceful so far.
That brings me to an end of another day of shenanigans.
Catch you later.
