Dear all

I just wanted to let you all know both myself and Dee are safe and well, thank you all for your messages of concern. We were about to fly from NZ to Melbourne at 12.50 but were delayed then the pilot informed us we could not fly as the systems running from christchurch were down as they had been hit by an earthquake at 12.53. At this time we did not know the full extent of the damage, christchurch was hit back last september but had not fatalities. eventually after a 3 hour delay we took off to Melbourne.

It was only when we landed we learned the full picture, all our party have been shocked and saddened by the earthquake, we were only standing in the city square and had been in the same cathedral now damaged beyond recognition only 5 days previous - i hate to think what if... but all we can think about is hoping the amazing people we met in christchurch are safe.

It is devastating to watch such a stunning place hit so badly, the news today state 75 are confirmed dead and 300 more are still missing.

Our thoughts and prayers are with anyone affected by this disaster.

I hope you are all well back home and i'm sending my love to my family and friends.

I expect you have heard the devastating news from the earthquake in Christchurch.
It was shocking to hear and see the scenes with buildings collapsing and people trapped under buildings. Also it feels so close to home as we were only there a few days ago viewing the cathedral at the exact time the quake struck. So somewhere was obviously looking after us.

Mine and Dees thoughts and prayers go out to those in Christchurch and there friends and family affected by this devastation.

lots of love gemx
