Wednesday 29 March, my last day in South America (for this journey in any event).
We spent some time finalising a few things before packing and venturing around Santiago for one last time.
Some last minute shopping and seeing some sights before a few drinks and a lazy lunch.
I must say this day was filled with sadness about departing the continent. My time here has been amazing. I have witnessed some amazing cultures, met some fantastic people, discovered things that I never imagined, had a few frustrating moments but in the whole this trip was bloody great!
Trying to hide all of the sadness about leaving we looked for smiles and good times with laughter in the afternoon. Then 6pm came. Time to head back to get our bags before a taxi to the airport.

A sad 20 minute ride, catching some last minute sights and sounds.

Some frustrating moments in some very long lines for both Aracely (back to Peru) and me (back to Australia) in the Santiago airport with many people and many languages all trying to get to their next destinations.

The next 2 hours was filled with thoughts and emotions about my whole 15 weeks here. Luckily the thoughts and memories are enough to ensure that I will be returning to explore more of this continent.

Away went Aracely. Then it was my turn. Lan Chile airlines to Auckland. 13 hours in total darkness. As with my earlier flight, Auckland to Santiago, the flight was perfect. Nice people. No bumps and totally on time. I managed 2 hours sleep (yippee). A 2 hour stopover in Auckland went quick. Then to Sydney for another 2 hours. One last flight back to Adelaide.

All went well. I returned home with a swag of emotions and memories.

This is my last entry relating to my trip away. Eventually I will be attaching to this last update a best of the best photo collection. That might take me a few days or a week or so but, I suppose by now, you are all used to my photos being pasted a few days later. Sorry about that:-)

Adios to you all for one last time. To my Australian friends, I will catch up with you all soon. To my Sth American friends, I will catch up with you all again one day. To my new friendships (mostly Australians), thanks for the memories and I will catch up and swap stories with you all one day too.

Thanks to all of you who kept me smiling with messages and best wishes throughout my journey. I appreciated all of your comments.

Thanks to anyone who helped me throughout my adventure. I really appreciate it also.

Adios for one last time.

Love Garry.
