Shinal had come to visit us at the end of her 5 week trip around North America and we were super excited to have her here! She arrived late on Tuesday morning. Wednesday and Thursday was spent mostly keeping herself busy with shopping in Vancouver. We did take her to Lonsdale Quay for lunch on Wednesday, Chinatown and Coal Harbour will Payal after work and then Sushi Vancouver style on Thursday and a big Turkey Thanksgiving Dinner with Camille and Aunty Rosie in the evening. We both had the day off on Friday and decided to hire a car for the weekend while Shinal was here. Today was spent driving up to Whistler. We hoped to see some bears, but alas they were already preparing themselves for hibernation and could not be seen! We also hoped to go on the Peak 2 Peak but it wasn't running that day! Instead we just had lunch in Whistler and explored the village. To make it up to Shinal, so she could have a more "Canadian experience", on the way home we stopped at Grouse Mountain and took the gondola up. Grouse Mountain has two resident grizzly bears. As we too hadn't seen grizzly bears (only numerous brown and black bears in the Rockies), we were super excited. They were amazing and had such personality. One of them even charged at Payal, giving us the shock of our lives. Good thing there was a fence there. We were pretty tired after the drive and just went home to rest and eat leftover Turkey dinner!
