No trip to Edinburgh is complete without a visit to Edinburgh Castle. We begun our trip of the Castle with a guided tour. The Scottish guide was at times hard to understand but it was a great way to get an overview of the history of the Castle. It is a beautiful castle on the hilltop in Edinburgh. The view of the city was beautiful. It wasn't hard to picture what it must have been like in the 1500s, watching for possible invasions. It was at this castle that Mary, Queen of Scots gave birth to her one and only son King James (KJV Bible is named after him – interesting fact). The castle has the actual birthing room still intact and you can visit it. The castle also has cool dungeons (probably not so cool for the prisoners back in the day), the Scottish Crown Jewels (very impressive) and a World War Memorial that is very humbling. The Castle was definitely one of our highlights of Scotland.
