What was supposed to be an easy day of 101kms to Kimba turned out quite torturous - we had either vicious cross winds which knocked the bike half way across the road at times, or a nasty head wind which slowed progress down to about 16-18km/hour average. The topography was undulating, with some long and slow climbs.
The countryside however was nice and green with the crops and low trees.
The day started with a great breakfast at the Uniting Church, before heading off into a cloudy and windy morning (with a short period of rain). As time progressed, the weather cleared, and we dispensed with our rain jackets.
We were joined by a new rider today - Alex, who will be with us to Sydney, along with his wife Margaret in support.
We arrived in Kimba at about 2pm and took in the local tourist attraction - the big galah! Kimba also promotes itself as being half way across Australia.
Kimba is a small country town servicing the rural area, as was Wudinna.
We are staying in the flower and vegetable pavillion at the Kimba showgrounds - pretty up market. Tea this evening will be at the local pub.
Early night tonight for a reasonable ride of 156kms to Port Augusta tomorrow.
