Another tough day in the saddle - why have I done this ride you ask? I must confess I have asked myself the same question. But when you have completed the day's ride, you get a real sense of achievement and the comraderie of doing this adventure with others keeps you going. Plus its great to share the day's ups and downs and stories at the meal table each evening. The team is getting on really well and working well on the road.

Today's ride was 182  kms which took 7 and a half hours. It was flat with some strong head winds towards the end of the day. We also did the tourist trick stopping at the Nullarbor sea cliffs which were spectatcular. Our destination was the Nullarbor Roadhouse which was like a speck on a flat, wide and treeless plain as we rode in. Nothing much there other than the service station and some accommodation units.

Our fearless leader Jim succumed to a injured knee and had to rack his bike on the trailer and sit in the bus from mid morning. He is a bit dissappointed, but he has done the across Australia ride before, and now has time to do some of the paperwork that his job requires (he is the full time Bike for Bibles Coordinator employed by the Bible Society of NSW). Trevor is still crook - yesterday he was diagnosed with swine flu by the nurse at the Eucla Nursing Station - he will be off the bike for a few days while he recovers.

I was really tired and sore tonight - its great to be sleeping on a real bed rather than on my skinny matress!

Done 5 days straight - 3 more to go before our rest day in Streaky Bay.
