Another big day - 167 kms - and it started with rain, which combined with the chill factor as we rode, made it bitterly cold. It was hard riding, and our pace was slow. I felt this was going to be a bad day. By the time we stopped for morning tea after about 2 hours, we were all soaked and chilled to tne bone. Some of us changed our tops, gloves etc, and after a hot cuppa soup, bread and nutella, we headed off.
After about 100 kms, we stopped again for a pit stop at the Widgiemooltha Roadhouse, where Jim shouted us coffee, hot chocolate or tea. This lifted our spirits, and with the rain clearing, we headed off with a more positive outlook.
Our lunch stop was even better, with left over sausages, buns, pasta, salad and more - delicious! And Robert had a warm fire going to warm up and dry out. By the time we set off, the weather was fine (still overcast and cool - but ideal for riding) and we ramped up the speed.
During this next stage, I gained the title (given by myself before someone else labeled me) of WBG - weak bladder Gazza! But there were a few guys who were thankful of the 25 kms pit stops - the cold weather and plenty of fluid during the ride made it a necessity.
We made Norseman (named after a horse) at 4.30 pm - a slow day, but the second half being quite enjoyable. We set up in the squash courts at the Rec Centre and had a large and tasty meal at the Norseman Miners Club (we will go there again tomorrow night!).
Rest day tomorrow - will be good to rest, do the washing, clean the bikes etc.
First leg done - 721 kms in 5 days.

Hi Gary,
I well remember the Miner's Club in Norseman, it felt like an oasis after several days of being out in the middle of not much.
Well done on getting to Norseman in all that bad weather. Hope you are sitting gently and comfortably !
Hi to Mark too.
I'm posting links to each of your posts over at http://bikeforbibles.org so hopefully others are finding their way here now too.
