Although we're not living on the bearest of minimum, sleeping in flea-ridden, frog infested, roach crawling cupboards with cold showers, a non-working fan and toothless proprietors intent on wringing every rupee out of our combined wallets, our arrival in Kandy was a first.
Due to the upcoming Esala Perahera festival (runs for 10 days up until the 28th), it seemed wise to get the room for Kandy reserved before leaving Holland. And what a room it turned out the be. More of a entrance hall than a room, with a balcony, television, air-conditioning, all lights controlled by a tiny box on Ronella's side of the bed, a bathroom with a B A T H with cold and hot water, and... hold breath dramatically... a pool, a lovely restaurant, a fitness room, a games room.. I can go on for a bit.

So our stay for four days in Kandy will be in luxury before heading back to the initial starting point of our journey, Negombo. We've also seen the scenes of the queues of people ready to watch the yearly grand procession through the centre of the city, but we won't see the procession itself until tomorrow. So today was a rest day, alight for a buffet breakfast, go for a 6 km jog in the gym and then leisure at the pool with a beer... Life can be tough at times.

Cheers,

Gary

Oh boo hoo hoo.

I'm weeping for you and the hardships you so bravely face Mr. Barnes.
