Yesterday I made the relatively short drive up the West Coast to the small town of Hokitika, a nice peaceful seaside town. This place was a good stopping off point before my final destination in South Island at Nelson.

I had been advised by the lady running my guest house that the nearby gorge would be well worth checking out so that I did and was a very nice afternoon walk in the lovely sunny weather.

On the journey back into town I stopped off at Lake Kaniere which again was a very nice spot.
