Well my travel plans had always involved a relaxing train journey down to Singapore as the final leg of my SE Asia tour. I had to get to the town of Tampin some 45 mins North by taxi first as Melaka isn't on the main train line. Now this has happened to me a few times that the taxi ride to my planned flight or rail journey has cost more than the actual main journey which annoys me a little, or I might just have it in for taxi drivers!. Anyway the taxi trip to the station cost £12 and the rail trip down to Singapore £6 so work that one out.

Unfortunately for me I experienced the first major travel delay of the whole trip when the train pulled in 2 hrs late and got into Singapore in the end 2.5 hrs late. The upshot of this was all I could see out of my carefully booked window seat was darkness for much of the way.

I booked into my hotel just after midnight but was able to get a great meal at a local busy café washed down with a nice bottle of Tiger.

It’s been great being back in Singapore, it’s the Fourth time I have been here and I really like the place, ok not your typical Asian city, very squeaky clean but the place is amazing, great people, lovely buildings, fantastic transport system and superb food.

One added bonus of being here today was that I was able to see the grand opening of Abercrombie & Fitch first store in Singapore, only their second in Asia, and I was about 50th in the que !, bagged a nice T shirt which I needed as I didn’t have a clean top for the flight to Brisbane.
