So it was Adiós once again to Zachariah, and off into the Wild West, this time towards Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon. Zach had showed me on the map a little road to take if I had the time because the scenery was spectacular. I didn't really have the time, but it's the journey, not the destination, so I went towards a town called Moab to check it out. The skinny hippie wasn't wrong, and I found myself stopping every half mile to take a photograph. This is called "Canyon Country", it's in South East Utah, and it's a nice precursor to the grand Canyon. It's so strange, because the sun is shining so brightly here, and the car really heats up, but there's still snow lying outside which gives the whole place a very surreal quality.
Another couple of hours driving and I'm in Monument Valley. Looking at the photos might give you a sense of Deja Vu, thats because Hollywood has used this landscape for hundreds of coyboy movies over the years. I've always wanted to come here wearing El Capitán, and show these Cowboys what a real hat looks like, so this was a little dream of mine come true. :)
This area is officially Navajo Indian territory, and there was a visitors centre to visit, but it closed early because it's winter, so I didn't get to see any cool stuff. :( Still got some sweet photos though!
