We arrived into Seattle after a 4 hour bus trip and were pleasantly surprised at how efficient the passport control at the border was (definitely recommend crossing by bus, the queue for cars was incredible).  Gareth had conveniently booked us into the hotel which was at the final bus stop and in a great location for all the sights we wanted to see.  We headed to Pike Place Market in search of the original Starbucks where Gareth had to sample a frappaccino to see if they were any better.  Think that Starbucks is probably the biggest money spinner of them all going by the endless queue.  We mooched round downtown and came across a movie theater which had 'Iron Man' on so had to go and see that.  Movie was good and Robert's not too shabby either ;-)  We went in search of 'Cascadia' a restaurant recommended to us by Kells and Mono for it's mini burgers, and were dumbfounded to find it closed.  At a loss we stumbled round the streets and came across a funky restaurant and bar 'Black Bottle'.  The atmosphere was great as was the food - can def recommend the Mussels Marseille style and the Hangar Beef Daikon.  Due to the disappointment of the mini burgers we had to stay another night and spent the next day checking out the 'Experience Music Project' and 'Science Fiction Museum' - if you're a muso or sci fi fan this is def something you can not afford to miss (Brett you would love it).  We picked up our rental car from the airport and then headed out to Fremont to see the Troll.  Went up the Space Needle before heading to Cascadia for dinner and drinks, the place did not disappoint, the mini burgers were great, the cocktails were fantastic especially the introduction to Godiva's liqueurs.  We met a couple of girls at the bar, one of whom lived in San Francisco and after commenting on my cute accent offered us her floor if we were passing through so that may be an option.  When Gareth went to pay the bill he realised he had left his debit card in the ATM that morning so we raced back in the hope it had been handed in.  Luckily after charming the security guard we managed to get the card back and Gareth won the dumb ass award for the day ;-) Loved the vibe of Seattle, very funky city.
