Still trying to resolve annoying problems with this computer and the camera but rest assured once I find a decent computer I will upload a fair few pictures and movies!

Today we adventured outside Waikiki to the US military base known famously as Pearl Harbor. It was a Thursday morning so we figured it wouldn't be too busy. Unfortunately we were greeted with an hour line up for tickets and because you need to take a ferry to get to the Arizona Memorial we had to wait about 3-4 hours for our turn. It wasn't too bad though cause that gave us plenty of time to check out the base and all the stuff they had on display. It was actually quite a nice place to spend the day and the American patriotism was kept to strangley low and tollerable levels.

The Arizona Memorial was quite humbling experience. Although you couldn't see all that much detail you could clearly make out the outline of the hulking, 200 metre long USS Arizona. Laying just a few metres below the surface of the water the Arizona rests as a permanent tomb and monument to around 900 US sailors who were trapped aboard as she sunk in the blink of an eye.

Taking a bus to the opposite side of the Harbor we boarded the USS Missouri, the last remaining Battlecruiser in military service. The Missouri was a massive ship and a total contrast to a WW2 sub we had been on back in the main museum. Having said that even the minature aircraft carrier that was docked totally dwarfed the Missouri. The significance of the Missouri is not just its the last Battlecruiser left but that it was the site that WW2 officially ended. A giant seal marks the spot were the Japanese commander surrendered and right next to that spot are the original documents which officially declare Japan's surrender to the Allied Powers (Both Australian and New Zealand representives signed the document!).

Besides that we've just been chilling on the beach trying to surf (it's hard :( ). I hope it's still raining and misserable back in Brisbane, I still love you all though.
