Giles:  So now we're in Vietnam.  A little change of schedule but more of a blessing in disguise as starting here rather than Thailand makes sense - would have had to go back on ourselves once hitting Thailand to get to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.  So it's all good.
It's really hot and humid here, in the thirties and it's been overcast except for today so we're permanently sticky (and smelly)!  A big help though is that we've finally had our second load of washing done since we left England, but it's just a matter of time before we start stinking out the clean clothes.  Sam is almost too afraid to wear them for fear of making them smell!  Looking forward to our resort we're off to tomorrow, sun, sand, pool, alcohol, for a few days of doing nothing.  It has been hectic all this travelling... I think we deserve it...
This place though, Ho Chi Minh, is a bit manic - literally thousands of scooters nonstop on the roads who don't care for traffic lights.  So we thought we would join them yesterday and hired out our own little scooter - such fun!  An hour of whizzing about with the locals, dodging pedestrians and other scooters, gettng so scared when we hit potholes, but all good fun and we survived.  I think this was more dangerous and frightening than the bungy jump, honestly!  Poor Sam though, didn't get off to the best start with it.  We found a fairly quietish street and I told Sam to gently feel the throttle... but she yanked it a bit too hard and the scooter went off on it's own and crashed.  Luckily it wasn't damaged and Sam had another crack a bit later where she got her confidence.  I think she enjoyed it in the end, but it was funny in hindsight.

Sam:  I do not smell. Giles stinks. And he did not tell me to 'gently' feel the throttle, he just told me to do it so i did and it crashed. Its all Giles fault really. And in the end i was a lot better than him, just like driving a car at home! I really love it here. It is manic and very humid but i still love it! I figure a lot of the reason i love it so much is the prices, its so cheap its silly. We managed to spend 2million dong so far and thats nothing! Today a local woman tried to sell me her baby. No lie. She wanted 300000 thousand for it! Only in Vietnam! I politely refused of course. Looking forward to tomorrow and our luxury getaway and our first beach.

Lots of love, Gam and Siles xxx

Scooters and potholes.....
I bet you didn't wear crash helmets when hurling yourselves around on that scooter, did you?? You two do take some risks, I have to say! And fancy having somebody wanting to sell her baby to you? Glad you declined....I do hope your little beach holiday turns out to be as good as expected...watch out for anything stinging or dodgy in the sea, won't you?
Giles - look out for email. Love you and miss you both, Mum, Susie and Tessa xxx

I'm not ignoring you.....
Hello you lovely people. Sorry for the lack of comments on your blog. I promise that an email is on it's way! Hope you're enjoying the beach - Sam, please remember that only factor 35 and above is actually effective in that 'foreign' sun!!(talking to and brick wall are suddenly springing to mind!). Fantastic talking to you the other night! Auntie SUZANNE xxxx
