I took the bus from Kosice this morning. When I checked the schedule on the internet, it said that Kosice-Levoca took a bit over 2 hours. Leaving the city, the sign said something like "110km to Levoca" but the first half of the trip only took 1/2 an hour, on a freshly-paved 4-lane highway! Of course, the second half was on a smaller road, with frequent stops in little towns and villages. We drove by Spisske hrad, a castle high up on a bluff, overlooking the surrounding countryside, which I'll be visiting tomorrow.

The room I'm staying in (I'm paying for a double, but it's still only 28$ and right by the main square) actually has its own en suite bathroom! It's very clean and there's a television, with 3 chanels, so I'll be able to see what prime-time tv is like in Slovakia.

Levoca is a pretty little town dating back to the Middle Ages (another one?!) with old city walls and plenty of old buildings. Interestingly enough, you have to pay to get into the large Gothic church in the town square, so I'm guessing they don't have mass there.

I didn't really plan my day very well, I should have gone up to the church 2km north of town today. I don't think I'll have time to do it tomorrow after having gone to Spisske hrad, and there's only so much to do in the town itself. If I started out really early, though... But I need to find a place where they sell food! All I've found so far are a few fruit stalls by the church and a place that sells drinks.
