Our group leader Ellis is interesting. "Look, I'm not ya tor guide yeah? I juss tek u ta plessez n leave ya ther, n if it starts raynin yeah, don't get pisst at me yeah, get pissed at god, i been to the volcano 6 times yeah n i only seen it twice, so dont get pissed at me yeah? oh and dont frow shit on da floor yeah, see yas all at 8 tomorrow" That was our briefing.
We then took the local bus of thieves. Due to the jam packed sardine effect, it makes it an easy location for locals to try and pickpocket. A lady "accidentally" dropped her glasses on the floor, asked Katie to help her find them, whilst her side kick asked me to open the window, meanwhile the old lady picks up someone else's bags, pretending they are her own and saying "perdon mi amor, mi amor" they both hop off the bus and the poor tourist on the other side of the bus is two bags down.
Eventually we arrive at our no breakfast included hotel and are taken to Desafio, our tour company and told to "pay up". Errr. i thought we had. No, the "beautiful night hike around the bottom of La Fortuna Volcano, finishing off in some fantastic natural hotsprings" that G.A.P made out was included as part of the tour actually cost us an extra 40$. Ellis dropped us off yeah and brought us da pitzars. He is from Belize.
Today however, was much more exciting and challenging. Katie and I had signed ourselves up for the Rappelling down waterfalls in the Rainforest. One of the waterfalls was 65metres high, and when you are at the top looking down, only hanging by a rope and harness, its slightly nerve racking. It was awesome though, being in the middle of the rainforst, with so much greenery and tree roots as big as a car size, waterfalls, monkeys etc-feels so unreal.
Better be off for our fun evening group supper with all the girls and Ellis.
