In order to get the Collectivo shared taxi from the "international" bus station it meant yet another early wake up of 5.50am. The international airport was somewhat casual, and a lot of collectivo drivers hassling you to go with them. After finding a suitable taxi, one with other passengers, we headed for the border of Peru and Chile in a rickety old car, which shuddered whenever it stopped, the boot didnt really shut properly and naturally it didnīt have seatbelts. The crossing was pretty straightforward and easy and somewhat lax. The aeroplane journey from Tacna to Lima was great, as there was a stop in another city, so it meant two takeoffs and two landings. Again, airports relatively chilled out, you get a stamp here and there, a handwritten boarding card and then you just walk out to the plane and hop on. Speaking of which, that reminds me, a woman in Arica was wearing a t-shirt, she was (I am guessing with her husband and two kids) and it had an old fashioned bicycle on the front, with big writing saying "Hop on". I presume she didnīt fully understand what it meant.
Oh I have another wisdom tooth on the top left coming through. I am very excited.
Tomorrow we leave at 4am for Cuzco and meet the group this evening.
An exciting day, border crossing, a new city, more people.
lots of love
