So we learned of the Hershey "preview night" opportunity, and decided to give it a go.  On Monday night, after a rest and swim in the hotel pool, we headed over to the park.  By showing our tickets for the next day, we were allowed to play for free from 7:30-10p.m.  We thought this would give us a chance to figure out the park and plan what to do the next day.  But to our surprise, the park was not very busy, and the kids were able to go on many rides, much more than we expected.

As we made our way through the park we found that the layout of the kiddie rides were great. There were usually grouped in two-three rides in each of the different sections of the park.  Although there were a number of rides that all the kids could go on, there were still times that Anya and Sophie wanted to go on a ride that Max was too small to get on.  Since, dad does not go on most rides it was a perfect opportunity for mom and the girls to go on more mature rides while dad brought Max to some of the kiddie rides. It was great to have access to so many rides with so little wait.

Hershey is no Disney by any means.  The majority of the rides are simple "midway" style rides.  There are not any dramatic productions while you stand in line for 45 min. (no anti-rooms, or holding areas etc.) like at Disney.  Despite the lack of elaborate rides the overwhelming crowds of Disney were also also not present at Hershey during the time we were there.  Most of the rides are either kiddie rides or roller coasters (11 roller coasters to be exact, including some of the newest and best on the east coast). And no, Mom did not get to go on any of the adult coasters (much to her dismay) :(  By the time she thought about it the second night, the lines at the adult coasters were long and we wanted to make sure the kids went on everything they wanted to go on before we left. Unfortunately the girls do not appear to be future thrill ride seekers, although Max could still be the hold out!

Oddly enough, it was the first time we've seen a height category that starts
at 5'.  Sherri did not quite make the "jolly rancher" ride height.  However the only ride it had any impact on was the "super intense" space ships.  She was actually not allowed to be the "responsible" adult to go on with the kids.  Since we are stickler fors rules, dad took the kids one at a time on the ride.

The few "in between" rides available were older style rides , such as the scrambler and tilt-a-whirl and the classic carnival music express ride.  The girls both loved these attractions, but unfortunately they were far and few between.  Anya is torn between deciding if the kiddie rides are too "babyish" and the big rides are too "scary".

So the next day we got there as the park opened to head over to the "Boardwalk" which is the Hershey water park.  The kids were super excited to check out this area.  The water play section is much larger than sesame, including a kiddie size wave pool.  Again the park was not too busy, so the kids were able to play easily.  What was great about the park was that the water park area was separated and you could not wear your bathing suit outside water area. It really cuts down on the "trashy" element found at other parks ...say... um.. I don't know .. Sesame Place.  Even though it was easily 90 degrees, they still were feeling pretty cold after a short while, so we decided to wrap it up and head out to eat.

Well again our selection was not the best.  We went to a place called Dafno's and had pizza, which was o.k. but nothing to get excited about.   The kids definitely still needed a break, so we went back the hotel for a movie.  We returned that night to enjoy again short lines and the kids went on everything they wanted.   By the end of the night we had had our theme park fill, everyone was exhausted and slightly sunburned as well( I knew I packed the aloe for a reason!)
