Arrivederci
I leave for Italy in one day! I'm very excited, but scared to death. My feelings are torn between being excited for the future, and being scared of letting go of the safety and love that I know so well. I have a great life here in Baltimore, and leaving when everything seems perfect is hard to rationalize. I couldn't ask for a better life. There's so many people that I'm going to miss, but especially Paige and my family. I know that a lot will change by the time I come home, but I trust that everything will find it's way back into place. I don't speak Italian, I'm heading over alone, and I'm making up itinerary as I go. The next three months will be an adventure to say the least.

I'm young and naive! What could go wrong?

First Week Itinerary
I will fly out of Philadelphia (PHL) to Rome, Italy (FCO). When I arrive in Rome I'm going to meet and have lunch with Flavia, who was my cousin's host when she studied in Rome last semester. Then, I will take a train in the afternoon to Bologna to meet with my Aunt Madalena. I will spend a night or two in Bologna and then travel by car down to Siena where I will begin school on Monday the 7th, and stay for the next three months. At first I will live with my friend Jacopo for about a week until I can move into my apartment. I expect that the first week is going to be tough, but hopefully the excitement will distract me.

Arrivederci,
G
