Where I stayed
Fouth Dimension
This weekend we tried a slightly different kind of adventure. With Karen, Alex, Stu and Keith, we chartered a yacht and took her for a spin out to Waiheke.
The first day was glorious. We made an early start and reached Oneroa on Waiheke Island by mid afternoon. The winds were reasonable without being scary. On arrival at Oneroa we realised that we risked becoming low on beer. The boys were sent to row the dinghy to shore whilst Karen and I started on dinner and consuming our wine ration.
The next morning, we saw dolphins at teh entrance to the harbour, and many many little blue penguins. We began to worry that they were following us... Cloud came in during the early afternoon and we had some dramatic skies when we took the dinghy and climbed Brown's Island. It's a small volcano, but a brisk walk when the wind is starting to blow. The rain started as we approached Auckland- welcome back to the city, folks- but it wasn't enough to put a dampener on a great weekend.
