After Napier was destroyed in an eathqake, the locals embraced art deco to create New Zealand's art deco city. Putting aside images of New York's deco skyscrapers, Napier is a pretty town with some beautifully painted buildings, including a very attractive bank. Not excitement central, but a nice place for coffee. The art deco theme even extends to the mini golf course!
