I am in Kathmandu now, which is another planet! There seem to be millions of people all trying to use the same bit of road- along with motor bikes, bicycles, rickshaws, cars and cattle. So you get very good at dodging things. It's ok- everything honks it's horn or rings its bell almost constantly- to say 'hurry up! move! get out of my way! I'm coming through! Watch out, I'm here!' I think it's partly just an affirmation that they're still alive and haven't been squished yet! But it's not quiet round here....

Getting out of the airport was insane as dozens of taxi drivers descended upon me trying to get me to go with them to the hotel they recommended (they get commission). I managed to escape that one by saying I already had somewhere booked and had already paid for it, which stopped them trying to change my mind about where I was going!

Had a sit down to recover when I got to the hotel- was a bit spaced out by it all- then ventured out again when I'd had a few minutes to ponder the guidebook.

The weather is also still good. A bit cloudy, but you can see that there are big mountains out there.... the foothills of the Himalayas! :)
Will go to the Himalyan rescue association tomorrow to find out about the weather etc, and see who wants a trekking partner! Hopefully will go next weekend....
