We woke up to the same rain we went to sleep with last night. I was hoping to visit the Squirrel cage jail in Council Bluffs, Iowa today, but luck wasn't on our side. They happened to be closed on Tuesdays. I guess will have to wait for another trip.

It rained all morning and that kind-of put a damper on scenic detours for me. Hubby just wanted to get home without anymore detours, so he was happy I didn't ask him to any side trips. Our excitement for the day was watching a plane crop dusting along the highway east of Ogallala, Nebraska.

Other than stops for gas and lunch and an ice cream treat I talked hubby into, we drove straight through to Laramie Wyoming where we stopped for the night.

I've noticed that on our trip east, I was up early and raring to go in the morning and hubby was sleeping late. Now that we're headed west towards home, the tables are turned and hubby is the one that's up early and raring to get back on the road and I'm the one that could use a few more hours of sleep.

Looks like the rest of our drive back will be without detours; from here on we've pretty much seen everything that is close enough for a short detour from the highway. Hubby would prefer that I just read my book and let him drive and and stay out of my maps and AAA books looking for something interesting.
