Wednesday afternoon was when we noticed that we had to pack for our next trip.  My mom said that she would do most of the packing so we started to play Phase 10 with our grandparents.  The next day it was time to leave for the airport.  In the morning we put all our luggage in the car and drove off.  The ride was pretty good because we saw 2 bald eagles, a bird eating a fish and a few others.  At the airport we checked our luggage, got our tickets, walked a loooonnngggg way and a few other things.  On the plane, we started to watch the screens on the backs of the airplane seats.    There was about a million channels.  But then we noticed that we had to pay to watch TV once we were in the air, so we stopped.

We landed in Houston, Texas and took a taxi to our hotel.  When we arrived in our room, we unpacked and noticed that the room would be too small for the four of us.  We started to settle in and thought that even though it was really small, it would be a great holiday house.  The next day, we woke up fresh and early, feeling excited that our dad was coming to join us.  After a little while, we heard a knock on the door............ it was our dad!  We were very happy to see him and told him that the room was too small, so he talked to the office and found us a bigger and better room.  We went to our first room, packed up everything and put it on a bellhop trailer, then took the luggage to our new room and unpacked again.

The resort had a really big pool in the middle of all the buildings.  There wasn’t just one pool, but four pools plus a place where water would keep spraying on and off.  The four pools were very different.  The first pool was the biggest one of all.  You would walk out the door of the apartment and walk into the pool.  In about 5 metres, you would find an island with an underwater treasure chest that you could sit on and lizards that you could hold on to.  If you went a bit further, you would find a waterfall that you could go through, and if you kept going, you would find a shallower area with bubblers and a basketball and volleyball area in the pool.  The other pools were smaller.  One was a medium sized pool, about half the size of the big one.  The other two were very small.  One of them was only 1 foot deep for little kids, and the other one was a hot tub.

Sometimes when you’re underwater in the big pool, you would hear sounds like music, whales, dogs and other sounds.  You couldn’t hear it when you were above the water, but only when you were underwater.  Around the island and in the treasure chest there were lots of bubblers and mosaics of fish and seaweed.  The temperature there was very hot outside but very warm inside the pool.  We spent a lot of time in the pool because it was fun and we wanted to cool off.

Attached to the big pool, there was a big building with two water slides inside.  If you went on it, you would climb up two sets of stairs, pick a slide and go twirling around about three times, landing in a small pool.  If you wanted to, you would climb out and do it again or slide down a different short slide and swim to the main area of the pool again.  My whole family went on it about 100 times.  The aim of the slide was to beat the other person to the end.

In the middle of all the pools was a cafe called Blue Water Cafe.  It had stuff like chicken tenders, toasted cheese sandwiches, salads, burgers, wraps, deli sandwiches and a lot of other stuff.  On the left corner of the Blue Water Cafe roof was a fan that sprayed water.  On one of the days at the pool, we found out about a treasure hunt that could win you a cool new toy from the cafe.  We completed the hunt and collected tattoos and a bouncy thing as our prizes.  Every day waitresses from the cafe would come around and pass out free frozen grapes and orange slices.

Behind the medium sized pool, there was a fire pit used for roasting marshmallows.  Because of this, we made s’mores.  S’mores are a roasted marshmallow on top of a square of chocolate, smooshed between two graham crackers, which are sweet American crackers used for s’mores.  S’mores taste like chocolate marshmallows with crackers.

Friday and Saturday nights were dive-in movie nights.  The staff would set up a big screen next to the water slides and turn a movie on, so the people in the pool could watch.  On Saturday night, we went to the pool and watched How to Train a Dragon.  At the end of the movie, it was about 10:00 pm and it was freezing.

On Sunday, a DJ set up a karaoke stand next to the pool and said that anyone could pick a song and write their name and that song on a piece of paper to be able to sing a song.  First I sang a song with my mom called Boogie Oogie Oogie.  Then I sang a bunch of songs with Sydney, which were Fifteen, Party in the USA, The Climb, Rolling in the Deep, Diamonds and a few others.  It was really fun!

In our hotel room we watched a movie called Teen Beach Movie, which some people might have already seen.  The movie was about two teenaged kids called Mack and Brady who started drowning in an ocean but ended up in Brady’s favourite movie.  The movie was about a fight between bikers and surfers in the 1960’s.  Mac and Brady found out that the only way to get home was to go into the ocean in another storm, but the storm came from two evil guys’ machine that was supposed to be destroyed by two other teenage kids that fell in love with Mac and Brady instead of each other, so the movie changed and the storm wasn’t going to happen unless they got the two teenagers together, but the problem was one was a surfer and was a biker, so they weren’t allowed to be seen by their friends together.  They ended up being together on a beach, then found out that their friends had been trapped in a lighthouse where the two bad guys were planning.  The two teenagers fell in love and got both the bikers and the surfers to help them free Brady and Mac and destroy the machine, which caused the storm to happen after all.  So Brady and Mac went out into the ocean into the storm and appeared back home in the ocean.  I enjoyed watching the movie.

On Monday we went to a big shopping center and found a shop called Justice.  Sydney spent all her money there, but I didn’t spend a single cent.  At Justice there was stuff like earrings, necklaces, clothes, hats, shoes, pillows, scarves, nail polish, hair supplies and other things.  There was also a shop called Trader Joe’s, which had a turtle hidden somewhere in the shop, that you had to find to win a prize.  I got an elephant rubber as my prize.  There were lots of different shopping areas that we went to but I won’t talk about that.

Most nights we had dinner without my dad because he was working, but one night he invited us to a Mexican buffet with his co-workers.  The food looked really delicious, and it was.  Afterwards, my dad taught us how to play shuffleboard.

Across the street there was a shop called Dairy Queen with stuff like ice cream, sundaes, smoothies and a lot of other dairy stuff.  The food there looked very sugary but tasted yummy.  One of the things that we got was a Blizzard, which is basically a thick milkshake with chunks of food.  Some of the Blizzard flavours were Oreo, Mint Oreo, Double Fudge Cookie Dough, Cookie Dough, French Silk Pie, Butterfinger, Heath, Reece’s, Caramel Turtle Crunch, M&M’s and a load of other flavours.  There’s also something called a soft-serve, which was vanilla ice cream covered in either a chocolate or butterscotch type ice magic in a cone.
