Another beautiful morning in the campground... and a walking tour of downtown Asheville. Then the drive across the mountains into central North Carolina on I-40 -- crossed the Eastern Continental Divide and then a six-mile very steep downhill stretch. At Hickory I turned south and drove through the small town of Maiden to my cousin Lynn's home in the country. We toured her home and land, sat on the back porch watching hummingbirds and listening to hawks and frogs, had a delicious dinner with Southern Chicken Pie and cousin Sandy's recipe for cake in a mug, and just for visited for hours. A wonderful visit, a comfortable bed indoors, a peaceful setting.

Good for you. I have about 3 cousins I have not seen in more than 20 yrs. and two I have never met. A trip to visits cousins would be a great excuse to visit some new states and perhaps some better weather. (Probably have to wait till next yr. though)

After your kitchen is finished you can plan that trip.
