Days 135 - 140 - Back to Rockingham for a few days before heading to Asia. Eventually got accommodation arranged for Hong Kong and China, so it's all systems go. Headed out fishing again with Alan. Only caught a couple of tiddlers (Alan got a decent Taylor), but things certainly improved when we went crabbing. Caught well over a dozen, and even though 6 or 7 went back, we had about 8 good sized ones which would be great for a meal for 4. Alan also caught a few squid, so they will complete the seafood feast. We also caught around 20 blowfish, which i later heard were 10,000 times more poisonous than cyanide!
Took a couple of runs up the coast to Fremantle (Bon Scott's grave), Scarborough beach, Swan River etc, as well as all around the Rockingham area. Had a good steak in a place in Freo which claims to have the widest choice of meat cuts in the world. Interesting.
Headed off to Rottnest Island for a day with Janice, hiring a bike and some snorkeling equipment. Was grand, but the island is rather barren and there is nowhere to sit and have food (outside the main site or beaches). This peeved Janice, as did the hills! The snorkeling however, peeved me, or rather the lack of it - the equipment i got lacked a strap so i could snorkel, and Janice had picked up a kid's one! Not so good, but at least we got a refund. Saw loads of quokkas (mini kangaroos that look more like rats) which are not found anywhere else in the world (apparently).
Also went dolphin watching again. This was far better, and cheaper, than Port Stephens as we got much more time with them, got much closer, was only 10 mins from where i was staying and we even 'played' with them in terms of the skipper creating waves for them which they surfed (jumping about 10 foot!).
A great, relaxing time all round in WA. Only two annoyances, which are the same for the East coast were the abundance of flies and the fact that many places don't advertise prices, you have to ask or just accept what they want to charge. I even found restaurants and cafes like this, they had menus, but no prices listed!!

Quokkas as rats is a tad harsh mate. I thought them quite cute
