Where I stayed
Anyway, after reaching lodgings and having lunch, we headed to monkey island. We saw one monkey (eventually) though i imagine the machete the guide was using to attract them may have had the opposite effect.
Headed back for dinner and a few beers, and on way back to lodge (around 22.10) the generator went off and we were left with total darkness, this made brushing my teeth loads of fun.
Day 33 - Woke up to the sound of the jungle - birds, insects, nature in it's finest form. It would have been especially peaceful if it weren't for the cold shower i took - tepid my erse. Trekked for about 5 hours deep into the Amazon, seeing extraordinary flora and fauna, which the guide gave a fine explanation of. Amongst others, we saw a tarantula, fire ants, a black caimen, loads of various birds, turtles, medicinal plants / trees etc. We went to a caiman lake after lunch seeing several white and black caiman chomping down the fish we fed them. Although the information given on the things pointed out was first class, i remember little of it - hence little details noted here. Was told that most animals are nocturnal (puma`s and the like) so no chance of seeing them unless going out on a nighttime stroll. Think iŽll pass on that.
Again, we were left in total darkness shortly after 10pm, this would have aided and deep sleep if it weren't for the beast prowling around outside. Not sure what it was, but it did silence the jungle for a bit. Thankfully the mosquitos didn't bother me, though some others did seem to get bites on their bites where they were bitten.
