how are things? well frans family arrived safe and sound and before they could get over their jetlag we were all on the plane again and headed for Melbourne. We had about 5 days here so we decided to hire an 8 seater people carrier and do a bit of touring. First day we decided to go driving down the great ocean road which is nice but definatly not "great" when the roads have soooo many dangerous bends and everyone had only about 4 hrs sleep from night before. I think nearly everyone had a sick stomach from that day - but we had a good laugh about it afterwards. After about 5 hrs of driving down these roads we arrived at the 12 apostle rock formation! Shane, Paul and John decided to do a helicopter ride over the 12 apostles. Thankfully there was a motorway back to melbourne so we took that road back and its a good job there were cats-eyes on the road to keep us all awake!!!!haha. We also seen a really confused Koala who was up a roadsign pole instead of a tree!!! (check out photos)
Next day we drove to phillip island. Here the lads decided to do some go-karting. Also at dusk, people sit out on the beach and watch hundreds of peguins swim in from the sea and walk across the beach to their resting burrows. This was soooo cool - was prob the highlight of the trip for me. They are all so cute and the smallest type of peguins in the world.
We also went to Melbourne Gaol and seen were Ned Kelly was excuted - freaky stuff.
We had one major night out where we decided to go for dinner in irish pub late in afternoon. A few more drinks later and when the band started, we were up dancing and singing. When that was over we went to hairycanarys pub (where we seemed to end up just as they are closing and we harass them to stay open). Then lets just say that by 4am it seemed like the best idea in the world for a few of us to head back to hotel to finish the bottle of whiskey - good laugh had by all!
Anyways we got back to Sydney and doing a bit of sightseeing and the usual stuff. We got tickets for U2 concert on Monday so that will be nice for a change.
We were in a pub in Coogee last night and who was sitting beside us but Sally from home and away. We harassed her for photos - a few of us were star-struck!!!!
