As some of you already know, i have found another job in a cafe on top of the one i already do at the restaurant "I'm Angus" on darling Harbour.

It is a very small cafe in between three massive bulding full of business men and women so no need to say that most of them need a coffee break and a quick something to eat at lunch time. Its basically 4hours per day of wahing the dishes as the caffe is so small that they don't have enough cups, soils and spoons !

First of all, i had to learn about all the aussie coffees and having never heard about small black, flat white, macchiato, moccachino it was a bit tough at the beginning.

The owners make the all thing very funny. Bill (doing the coffes) and Nina, her wife, (doing the food) have had this little cafe for about 6 months and they want to run it as a local friendly cafe where everybody is called "darling", "mate", "honey" or "my friend". They of course expect the staff to know the little names and the habits of all the regular customers : "no sugar for Kevin on 7, remember that honey, you'll get use to it." As if I wanted to !!!

My first day was a nightmare as Bill always fills up the cups too much and when you have to carry a "flat white" and the cup is full it's very hard not to drop any of the milk on the soil ! I didn't manage to take any of them on my first day and had to lie few times: "sorry Bill can you make another one, the girl just knocked me out when i put it on the table..."

They take everything very seriously and everything i do seems to be a matter of life or death ! I dropped a straw on the bar, picked it up and put it on the glass, Bill looked at me with angry eyes and said to me : "never do that again honey!" I asked him why and he told me that the bar is full of germs and if customers see that they will think that we are not professionnal...customers should see the fridge and the place where we wash the dishes then, i dont think customers will appreciate to see their plates being washed in the same sink as the ashtrays ! and then he is talking about germs !!!

They can be friendly when they want but when the bell rings I have no more than 15 seconds to run to the bar no matter if my hands are wet or dirty, I have to be there as the cappucino cant wait: "a cappucino is just made of air at the top darling, if you wait too long, the cappucino look empty". WHouah so many things I didn't about coffes ;-)

Bill always seem to be under so much pressure, I can hear him shouting and running everywhere when he has 3 customers waiting for their coffes. On my second day he came to me with three empty pots and 3 spoons, what he usually used to do the milk for hot chocolate, cappucino or coffes. He looked at me as if he was going to tell me a very bad news : "Honey, you see those three pots...(yes)...consider them as boomerang...(hum sorry, don't get it)...when they come to you they have to bounce straight back to me no matter what you are doing." No need to say that I was about to burst into laughter but I just smiled and replied "yes boss".

Well I am having a funny time and it's still a bit more money I can save for my travels !

Hi, I just found your add by a random search in google about bar tosca, I get contact by bill for a job there, it gave me a bit me of information about the shop... sound a bit hard job but fun.. would you recommend it?
