As of now Bequia is the early leader in terms of a place to spend my post-sailing week. It's got a great little waterfront area with good food & a few bars. We did a mini pub crawl while roaming around yesterday hitting 4 or 5 including the New York Sports Bar... which neither showed sports nor had anything to do with New York. It did have a guy wearing a Barry Sanders jersey though so I guess that works.

There's also pretty good diving. We went on two dives this morning - hopefully the first of many in the next few weeks. It was a little overcast so not the best conditions but still very good.

The random shower situation has started becoming a little more challenging than it was the first few days. A bunch of the islands are in the middle of a water shortage and Bequia is one of them. Yesterday during a quick but heavy downpour the five of us stood outside in the street just so we could get rained on. We were the only ones out there. The locals (& yachties) were looking at us like we were crazy but it was better than the alternative.

Last night Norman joined us for dinner at The Devil's Table - one of his favorite restaurants - and put on quite a show. The stories this guy tells are unreal... seriously. I mean he was telling us about some of his former jobs and if you believe him, he's been a special forces commando and gun runner among other things (which makes the whole machette thing seem about right). He also claims to have made about $300 million along the way. All I can say to that is... $300 million should buy a shower on the boat! And a bigger boat!

Anyway, that's it for now. Tomorrow it's a 10-12 hour sail back to St. Lucia to drop Cindy off for her flight and pick up Alison, Norman's girlfriend. That means more time at The Reef and a real (outdoor) shower on the horizon.

showering fully clothed in the street via rain is what stands out the most in this story. I would have been semi ok with the local's looking on but, the yacthies..... they should have offered you their shower!

Maybe you can get a picture of Norman once Alison is there . . . I want to see her too!! The shower situation is slightly scary.
