Where I stayed
Breaky again at the Venice beach house. We once again met other guests and chatted about anything and everything. We checked out and headed for Santa Monica Pier.
The pier had a great atmosphere with a rollercoaster, ferris wheel and carousel. It was funny being at a beach that no one swam at. (Apparently it gets stormwater run off and it's not really safe.) We walked under the boardwalk and took some photos against the support poles.
Finally we had a warm day L.A. The sun shone and it was lovely. (The day before had been 20ish degrees and windy. Funnily enough then same temperature as Sydney had had that day, as we checked, but it's almost summer here!)
We then headed for Beverly Hills and Hollywood. We shopped in Beverly Hills, Jeff and Helen got to have a much loved frozen yoghurt from Pinkberry (according to Helen 'the best place ever!') and walked the Hollywood walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard. It's very long!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stars_on_the_Hollywood_Walk_of_Fame Hollywood (for a full list of stars)
We also got free make overs at Napoleon Perdis, saw Grauman's Chinese theatre with hand and footprints of stars surrounded by lots of impersonators.
(Caron: We also also saw some of the team from Extreme Makeover Home Edition.)
We saw the Hollywood sign and ate lunch at 5pm. We were so hungry I was getting a headache. (It's so hard to stop for things as trivial as food in a place like this!)
We finally checked into the Crown Plaza, just beautiful. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant because going downstairs was all we had left. We'd even considered getting room service. (H - a massive tuna and vegie dish, K& J - steak sandwich.) After a peppermint tea (thanks Helen), exhausted we all fell into bed and were asleep in minutes.
