We were really looking forward to going to Caron's church. We went to the 8:30am service, which had a topical sermon on Mothers Day.
The Pastor used 2 Timothy (the examples of Timothy's Mother and Grandmother), Deuteronomy (that it should be passed down).
It was a great look at the influence of parents and how their examples of living not just teaching is so important. It made us very thankful that we were both brought up to know and love God.
We also got to meet some of Caron's friends/ Christian support network, which was great.
The plan for Mothers Day was then to come home and have brunch. Well that's what Caron thought. Mike had actually made a reservation for brunch ( Caron help me out.......at..???) Anyway it was amaing. We had a mariner and pool view table and you would walk back into the main dining area where massive the tables were laden with breakfast and lunch foods. Cheeses, fruit, pastries, roast meats, sushi, waffles, desserts, salmon etc, etc, etc.
We went for a walk alongside the mariner (another one. They are everywhere!!) Then drove to WalMart, another US wonder. They have a hairdresser, McDonald's, an optometrist and full grocery store all inside too, and in true Texas style its huge.
On the way home Mike drove us around Kemah, down to the board walk, which was extremely busy due to it being Mothers Day and we saw the largest wooden roller coaster.
We had a lazy afternoon and Colin, Mike's brother, came over. Caron woke up about 5ish and we went for our last walk. We all went out for dinner to Chilis and had burgers, ribs and unlimited refills of Dr Peppers. (hehehe)
To finish the night back at home we had a slice of pie that we had brought home from Round Top. If its even possible it was even better after a couple of days. The boys the other night had bought some soy ice cream that I had with mine. Oh yum!! It wasn't a brand that I knew but it was great!!!!! A good end to a great day and first Mothers Day for Caron.
