We drove into LA Sunday morning.  Traffic wasn't as bad as I feared, but I know I benefited from it being a Sunday morning.  We parked at the Petersen Automotive Museum parking and killed about 30 minutes walking around the area.

Most of these shots are from the auto museum.  Pretty cool collection that they rotate frequently.  We went to the LA County Museum of Art next door.  Pretty impressive museum overall.  We were allowed to take pictures with no flash, but decided not to.  Taking a picture of a Monet to view on screen is like watching an action movie on an iphone.  It cheapens the experience.

We did walk by the La Brea tar pits, which is right next to the museum.  I found that pretty odd.  The smell of petroleum floating on water made me a little home sick.

We also made it to the Heath Ceramics http://www.heathceramics.com/go/heath/our-story/
store in LA.  It's not cheap stuff, but we splurged and bought a few pieces we can use nearly every day.

On the way down to San Diego we stopped in Encinitas and got a smoothie and an Acai bowl.  These are big in the area, it's a frozen smoothie made with acai berries (some new age hippy fruit apparently) granola on top and then sliced fruit on top of that.  It's hippy approved, but I fear it's just a frozen chunk of Grimace from McDonalds.  They try to disguise it with fruit and granola...crazy hippies.
