We arrived in Monterey in the early evening ready to take take a load off. Our accommodations are comfortable, quiet and elegant. We have a view of the tennis courts but whatever because we have a balcony. We were disappointed because there was no complimentary breakfast. They do offer a lovely breakfast buffet with a wide variety of food choices.

We tried to find a seafood restaurant (you think that would be easy, since we are a stones throw from the ocean). We settled for Mexican food. A little taquira that was not much to look at but was a delightful surprise. We had a variety of food at the table but star meal was a grilled shrimp bowl with rice and black beans.

On day two we made our way to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Two adults and two children; it was a hit for all age groups. At the end of the day the favorite exhibits were the Dragon fish, Jelly fish, Hammer head shark and of course the ever lovable penguins.

Between the aquarium and our food stop we were pleasantly surprised with the array of shopping.

For dinner we finally found a really good seafood joint. It had window seats facing the ocean and we dined like kings. Calamari, shrimp cocktail, garlic bread, hamburgers, crab cakes, bread with a green pesto and of course loads of wine.

After dinner we stopped at Whole Foods to bring back treats to the hotel. We picked up some truffle cheese, crackers, grapes, salsa, chips and of course buckets of wine.

We ended the perfect with a long movie that I would not recommend; title Mammoth.
