Where I stayed
Parkside Motel - North Bend
Townhouse Motel - Eureka
We started on Highway 101 and traveled down the coast. It is incredibly beautiful here and the ocean views are stunning. Its amazing how far out to sea you can actually see from this coastal road - its breathtaking. The pine forests are huge and its non-stop scenery for the whole trip.
We started on Highway 101 from Lincoln Beach in Oregon and drove until we reached North Bend Oregon. We headed down to the beach and saw seals and the Brown Pelican which is an endangered species. We spent one night here and the next day drove on further down the coast to Eureka in California. Finally the weather starts looking up! California is beautiful and sunny and warm...thank god!!!
From Eureka we followed the 101 inland and took a detour on the old Highway 101 so we could drive through The Avenue of the Giants. The Avenue of the Giants is a huge redwood forest which is the largest of its kind in the world. The trees are unbelievebly massive and some are thousands of years old. It's a really incredible drive.
We then headed back to the coast and met up with Highway 1, where we drove the coastal road to Bodega Bay.
This road trip along the coast has been a huge highlight of our trip. The wildlife and views are really amazing. We were lucky enough to get to see wild Elk and also a Bobcat which ran across the road in front of our car. Luckily it escaped!

We also did a trip along the coast and loved all of the small historic towns. Garibdali was fun where we stayed at the Harborview Inn. It's right on the Tillamook Bay with lots of restaurants and things to do close by. Check them out: www.harborviewfun.com
