Wow, sand dunes out of the Turkish Delight ads! Tiny little 'oasis' sat only a couple of miles from Ica, in the middle of huge sand dunes, it has quite a romantic hit to it, although hardly anyone there at this time of year which probably made it. The pond which the town surrounds is meant to have curative properties but wouldn't go near it if you paid us! It's tiny but people still went out in peddalo's - amusing!

Took a walk up the dunes to see the sunset, bloody hard work but good fun.

Wow the colours man!

Also went on a wine/pisco sour tour - the first winery was the best - Tacama. We're not normally into Rose but bought a bottle of theirs, delice. Our taxi driver was excellent, a right good laugh. He then took us to a couple of pisco sour places, the first one made Welly allergic and his nose and eyes were streaming for the rest of the time! They'd given us a mixture of wine and pisco sour which was vile, the pisco wasn't great either. The third place we went to was excellent, got a tour round the place and shown how them make the pisco, then tried a few different types, bought a bottle of the lemon pisco - your meant to add your own eggs to make it a pisco sour but it was fine the way it was. Finally we were taken to a chocolate factory but could only look through the window into it, although the shop was still open so we could taste and purchase some. Mmmm mmm mmm. Central and South America aren't known for their chocolate so this was a good change. Bought some kind of turkish delight type affairs, different kind of fruit in the middle (can't remember the name now).
Then next day we sat by the pool drinking the chilled Rose and eating the chocolates, heaven!
Then it was time to pack and get the night bus to Lima and time to head home.
Both of us are looking forward to some home comforts but we also know that the trip isn't ending there...
we have a fun filled summer of festivals and then the plan is to go to India in October for 8 months or so...
