A group of us went to these hot springs a couple of days into the first week of school. Got the bus to Zunil then jumped in the back of a pick up which took us up to the hot baths. It was really hot and sunny and we were thinking that it maybe wasn't the best time to go to hot baths but the pick-up ascended into the clouds and it started raining pretty heavily so we were glad to get into the warm water. You could smell the sulphur from way back down the road but when you were in the water it was surprisingly non smelly. An hour or so later we had to leave to make it back in time to Zunil for the last bus to Xela (pronounced shaela, short name for Quetzaltenango).
Missed our stop in Xela and ended up a few miles out of town, obviously still have some serious mis-communications!
