An amazing combination of art and ancient farm engineering on hills decorated with charming minority villages, the Dragon Backbone rice terraces (love the name) are just stunning.
I stayed 2 nights in Dazhai which offers the best sights, staying at minorities places.
You're really rewarded by the view when trekking the little hills around.

The morning of the 3rd day I made it to Ping'An which is as beautiful but smaller and very touristy.

It was about 2pm when I realized my train to Kunming was leaving at 5pm from Guilin... I asked a few locals who told me to either forget it or call an expensive taxi for the 2h30 ride. I managed to jump in 3 different buses and was very lucky to catch them almost in a sequence (I had to stop the buses from the road, though) and made it at 4.59 to the train station... Somehow, gotta believe in yourself ...

On board and as the trains leaves (always on time in Confucianist China), first thing first, I pour a great refreshing Tsingtao beer into my very dry throat!! To get rid of the dust. Has to be one of the top 5 pleasures in life!
