So here we are in the good ol U S of A.  And what a culture difference.  I love America.  Americans have it all sorted out (apart from cheese).  Oahu appears to be a lot like Fiji but with skyscrapers and millions more people, cars and noise.  The heat here is different too - dry and not as humid.

We left Fiji at 10pm on Easter Sunday and arrived in Honolulu at 7am the same day - mental.  Something to do with the international date line but basically it meant that we had Sunday twice.  It was the longest day of my life - literally.

We've been here a week now and have been doing the usual tourist things - Pearl Harbour, Waikiki Beach etc.  We also hired a car for the day and explored the North and East coast.  We also went to the cinema to watch Scream 4 which was wicked.  Got a massive bag of popcorn - which was disappointingly salty but still managed to eat it all.

Waikiki is hugely busy - packed full of tourists (a lot of which are Japanese).  The beach is rammo and the sea is full of surfers.  It's just as I had imagined it.

I am going to make final mention of my tan - it's not going well.  On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is see-through and 10 is the girl who works at the Tanning Shop, I am about 2.  That is an improvement of course and I am grateful for that.  However, considering that my family hover around the 5 mark in winter and Steve is currently nudging a 6 or 7, I am seriously wondering whether I have some sort of deficiency (don't answer that Flor!).  Anyway, I will perservere but I must accept that whatever happens I will never get past a 3 - even if I walk the Sahara desert without any sun lotion on.

On that note, I shall sign off.  We are flying half an hour to the island of Kauai tomorrow which is just north of Oahu.
