Carnival Cruise Ship

Flag of Cayman Islands  , Grand Cayman,
Monday, January 16, 2012

This was my first cruise and I chose Carnival cruise lines.  I have to admit that I had some reservations about going on a cruise.  From past experiences I knew that I didn't really like to be on boats or open water for that matter.  All these reservations I had went out the window the minute that I stepped foot on the ship.

I was lucky enough to find a pretty good deal on a room.  My room was on the Lido deck, which was fairly high up on the ship.  The room was a little small but had all the right accoutrements.  The funny thing is is what resonated the most for me was the surprisingly large bathroom in the room.  I'm not sure what I was picturing before I came on the ship, but the room was a fairly decent size.

The only thing that made it really good for me was the size of the ship.  It was a lot bigger than I thought it was.  It was like a huge floating city.  Shops, casinos, pools, nightclubs, and a really large gym.  The first night was the best one as I spent it getting to know the ship and all it had to offer.

Before long, we were on our way.  Our first stop was the Cayman Islands.  I had never been there or honestly never really thought that it would have much to offer, being an island and all.

We had a short time, I think it was a couple of hours to tour the island so before I even got off of the ship, I researched what it had to offer.

I chose this boat that takes you out on this sand bar where you can feed manta rays.  It was a little intimidating at first and at first I was perfectly fine watching everyone else feed the manta rays from the comforts of the small boat we were on.  After about 10 minutes of coaxing by one of the guides I found my self in the water, swimming toward the sand bar.  I never thanked the guy as I was still trying to get over some fears, but after I was really thankful that they guy convinced me to do it.

I didn't really have much time left afterward to see much else of the island.  So I got a quick bite, shopped a little, and took some pics.  Before I knew it, I was back on the Cruise ship setting sail for the next location.  Cozumel, Mexico.
