Three days and three nights in the Penobscot Indians' most sacred "God Resting" territory will change you. You have never felt a deeper sense of rest and calm. You might come away from this experience with a new understanding of your own deeply personal concept of God.
3rd Machias Lake is a profoundly silent and spiritual place where time as you know it does not exist. There is no such thing as time. There are only the unfolding rhythms of nature. Days are not measured by the hours on a clock. They are measured by the changing colors of light dancing on the water in the early cool of the day.
By the caress of gentle breezes combing the mountains and whispering through the trees in the early silence of a warming morning
By the gentle rocking of a canoe, waves lapping, and aimless drifting with fishing pole in hand
By the tickle of bare feet yielding to a plush carpet of moist pine needles
By pastels of sky and tranquil water as the sun retires and dusk begins
And by the haunting laughter of loons echoing across the calm lake at night and the crisp crackle of pine logs snapping in the campfire.
