More than just a palace; the Alhambra is like a small city with vast gardens, plazas, homes and winding streets covering the rolling expanses of the steep peaks overlooking the town of Granada below, with spectacular views of the surrounding 10,000 ft. Sierra Nevada mountains. Two days in the steep hills of Granada will allow us plenty of time to explore the vast expanses of the majestic, mountain-top Alhambra Palace
the stone streets winding through the hills,
relaxing, sunny outdoor cafés of the very high mountaintop 9th century Moorish quarter
and the quiet streets of the Sacromonte (Sacred Mountain) gypsy neighborhood.
Moroccan bazaars and Tunisian tea houses.
Perhaps you'll treat yourself to a quiet hot spa and massage at the 14th Century Royal Arabic Baths, followed by an exciting late night of passionate flamenco dancing in one of the gypsy caves atop the high precipice of Granada's steep sacred mountain.
"Tapeando" (appetizer-hopping) at the charming bistros, cafés and tasquinas in the medieval stone streets of the colorful Mudejar quarter.
