Saturday, I helped Chuck and Libby with one of their favorite projects.  The "Free Rein" organization is a therapeutic horse ridding project that works with autistic children.  They learn to ride horses in a controlled environment that allows them freedom of self expression while upon special horses belonging to the organization.  This past Saturday was a ridding benefit that raised more finances for the organization.  It was a full, fun day of meeting people, riders, the committee members, workers like me, and all else who wanted to buy a hot dog from "Free Rein".  The benefit was called "The Poker Ride".  It's a game played by anyone who wished to participate for a registration fee.  The kids of Free Rein were not part of this effort because the ride involved miles of ridding.  The object was to find five "Clues" allowing participants to guess at questions regarding the Dupont Forest and surrounding area.  The result of that effort gave a random five card poker hand to play for gifts offered by local vendors.  It's a fun commonly known game in the area that allows everyone a chance to win some great prizes
Chuck and I had clearance to drive the pickup through the beautiful Dupont Forest and hide the clues for our game.  The clue was printed upon a sign that I nailed upon trees.  The day was sunny and not too hot.  The turnout was pretty good.  Horse people are a special bunch with generous pockets.  Their love for ridding brings them together much as a close knit family. I met people who I am sure will always remain friends.  The end-of-day brought a typical thunderstorm that poured upon Chuck and I while retrieving all the clue signs in his monster pickup!  It poured, and poured, and poured about five minutes after I bragged about the day being beautiful!!!!    Sort of the way it goes, huh?  I suppose our lives ultimately become what we leave behind.  Yesterday, we left some good things behind.  Thanks to all who participated!  I certainly had a blast!!!
With love to all,
Fred
