Hi Vernae,
My old friend Mickey Spangler showed up this morning at 08:30AM for a trip to Mount Mitchell. I haven't been there in 50 years. It was a step back in time. A mountain doesn't change much mind you, but everything seemed just like new. We meandered through some of God's best country toward the little city of Marian. I always think I'm in a never ending park here. So green! All the grass is mowed around EVERY house! These people are somewhat sick. I haven't mowed a lawn in 20 years and still do not miss it. They do it every week or two for Gods sake! Oh well, the state looks like a picture no matter what direction you're facing! I just wonder how many "closet haters" there are in the area of lawn mowing. I'm sure the government could come up with this meaningless statistic and bestow a huge amount of our money for treatment.
We got to the top of Mitchel and ate lunch. With the altitude and a full stomach, I could not count to 10 forwards, much less, backwards. I think it was the sweet tea, French dip sandwich, and peach cobbler with ice cream that sent me to outer space. I was sure I knew my name; however, I'm positive I could not have passed the test. After the sugar high, I regained my brain power to take more pictures.
I do hope you enjoy these pictures. I think I took them...
Love to all,
FreDerick

Great photos, Derick! You just soak up enough green to last you a couple of years. Funny to think that the highest point east of the Mississippi is about 500' lower than the city of Flagstaff! Beautiful nevertheless.
Hope there's no chance your gaining back any of that hard-lost weight! Do you get a chance to run now and then?
